It took me 5 months to get the CK2 map painted with rivers and terrain and all that before was able to then provide a much better height map which we combined with 's and 's historical maps of Chinese coastlines that I then redrew the province maps on which took another 3 months. I don't want to make a heightmap and province painting because it's a lot of work. In CK3, we very well could change things. Your concept of inheritance is interesting because that was how I originally had it done in the CK2 mod, but I ultimately decided it was too GAMEY and not historically accurate enough for my tastes. Great advice mate, appreciate the feedback.

The marquisate system could work with 500 prestige = secondary marquis (player event/stat boosts), 1000 prestige = village marquis (weak claim to the county), 1500 prestige = county marquis (inheritable title + weak claim to the commandery), 3000 prestige = duke (similar to administrator but always inheritable + weak claim to province), 4000 prestige = king (similar to the governor but always inheritable)Īnother small idea would be to include historical bandits/rebels as mercenary units which could be hired in the regions they were active in? The CK2 ROTK mod was lacking for mercenary units, so this could be cool to see This would mean that the player's successor wouldn't necessarily require an office to continue, but could receive a weak claim to any titles that their parent had so that you could retain any territories, or alternatively, an event could pop up after the death of a previous player character, in which the successor makes the decision to either step down their parent's main position as governor/administrator and return to their marquisate (for +piety) or declare themselves the next governor/administrator (for -piety but +prestige). Historically, a marquisate was held in a family for three generations. Perhaps, if your character earns a certain level of prestige, they can receive a marquisate from the emperor?

I also have some ideas regarding the inheritance system.

I think you should create your own heightmap, since any DLC map work might be released in well over a year, and that's if Paradox ever plans on releasing any for China.
